Courses

Oriental dance

is taught in many places by very enthusiastic but unfortunately non qualified dancers. The reason for this may be that in Arabic countries, especially in the land of origin, Egypt, there are no official schools offering professional dance training for classical oriental dance as we know it. This matter is related to the concept that Islamic culture holds towards the body as well as the way society thinks about oriental dance which classifies its performers in a low class status (unless they are very successful or wealthy). For this reason oriental dance receives in its original land little or no support although music and dance in everyday life are loved by the people.

On the other hand in European history dance is treasured as the highest expression of perfect harmony between body, mind and soul. It has been considered since ancient times in Greece and the court of Louis the XIV as noble and dignified. In the modern western world oriental dance is taught and encouraged since the 70's.

The dance classes include a warm-up with isolation and coordination excercises, rhythm, finger zills, step combinations, choreographies, veil technique, folklor dances and special attention to posture in order to avoid unnecessary injuries or back pain. Also, there is emphasis on the correct positioning of the feet and arms. Awareness of direction and movement in space as well as the basic rules and principles of dance. The newest trends are presented since Beata and Horacio travel regularly to Cairo to see the latest shows and bring new supplies for the boutique.

On top of all the technique there is a lot of fun in all the classes. We incorporate training for the body, mind and soul.

The classes are taught by Beata and Horacio.
